These massive iron gates were originally fabricated in France at the turn of the last century. Carl was hired to restore and expand them from 13 ft. to 20 ft. The restoration involved extensive replacement of deteriorated forgings, replication of antique components and re-engineering of the hinges and pillars. Crafted from solid steel, each new leaf weighs over 1800 lbs. The restoration took approximately 400 man-hours. Coated with epoxy and then painted with up to six different hues of metallic paints to produce an aged effect, we’re sure that they are good for another 100 years.
